”How does textiles create a cohesive bond between individuals, groups and communities and also as a sense of belonging? I am outside of home (SU-EN Butoh Company studio) but in this temporary home I find fabrics (leftover pieces) which I usually use in my home and studio for my works. Even though I feel different here, I intend to create a sense of belonging here through these textiles/ leftover pieces by inviting passersby to help me to stitch or sew these pieces onto my costume.”
Short bio artist: Naa is an emerging interdisciplinary artist whose work focuses on the art of fashion, textile installation, the theatricality of fabrics and costumes in relation to politics, culture, power, value and identity.
