Swedish choreographer and Butoh artist SU-EN is pursuing the issues of the body and the world in her artistic activities. With roots in the Japanese Butoh and influence from conceptual art and performance art the work is directed towards exploring the urgent and extreme situation of the contemporary body.
SU-EN Butoh Company’s universe is vast, and draws its materials directly from nature – wild and unshaped, vivid and enigmatic as it is. The body is a living organism, interacting with nature and society.
SU-EN Butoh Company tours internationally with larger or smaller productions, works with cross genre art projects, video art, art installations as well as offers workshops in the SU-EN Butoh Method all over the world. The company is based in Sweden: Haglund Skola, Almunge, 1 hour north of Stockholm and 30 min east of Uppsala.
