”In 2019 was a butterfly explosion. There were butterflies everywhere in the garden around Haglund Skola, and also the kinds I had never seen before. There was also a plum explosion, and the trees were so full of the fruit. As the plums started to rot a bit, the butterflies all went to drink from them, so the plum trees were full of butterflies!
I was preparing an installation with stones quite near the plum trees. I realised that this was a chance in a life time, and as the public event day came I decided to move all the rotten plums onto the stones….and the butterflies followed. So I did my performance, partly completely still as not to disturb the butterflies. When I moved a bit they all flew away, but when I became still, they all came back. It was a truly remarkable and once in a lifetime experience.”
